ADHD-friendly cleaning: start with the thing you can see
Cleaning schedules look lovely on paper and fall apart by Wednesday. With an ADHD brain, starting is often the hardest part. So make starting tiny.
Start with what you can see
Stand in the doorway and pick the one spot that bothers you most: the kitchen table, the sofa, the stairs. Just that spot. Ignore the rest for now.
Race a song
Put on one song and see how much you can clear before it ends. When it stops, you're allowed to stop. Most days you'll want to keep going.
Keep a basket handy
Carry a basket for things that belong in another room. Don't walk off to put each thing away, because that's where distraction lives. Empty the basket at the end.
Celebrate the small win
Take a photo of the cleared spot. Seeing what you did helps your brain remember that it's possible, and makes tomorrow's start a bit easier.
