The 10-minute evening reset that saved my mornings
For years I went to bed in a house that looked like a small storm had passed through, and woke up to the same storm with breakfast on top. Deep cleans never lasted. What finally worked was tiny: ten minutes, every evening, the same three jobs.
The three jobs
1. Clear the kitchen surfaces. Not spotless, just clear. Dishes in the dishwasher or the sink, crumbs swept off.
2. Reset the launch pad. Bags, shoes and coats by the door, ready for tomorrow.
3. One "gift" for morning you. Lay out the cereal bowls, fill the kettle, or put the lunchbox kit on the side.
Why it works with a busy brain
A timer turns a vague, endless job into a game with an end. Three fixed jobs mean no decisions at 9pm. And when the kids help (yes, even the little ones can carry shoes), it's done before the kettle boils.
Try it for a week. If you miss a night, no drama: you just reset tomorrow.
